Speaker: David Cohen, M.D., Ph.D.
Title: Making dreams come true in hospitals, from charcot to the present day.
Introduction:
David Cohen is a visual artist and a child psychiatrist. His artistic career has led him to explore various media, including painting, sculpture, and performance. He works in Paris, France, and Pietrasanta, Italy. His artistic ambition is primarily poetic and aesthetic in nature. His exhibitions generally deal with various themes in which the effects of trace or memory and existential questions, invariant to the human condition, intertwine. He often favors color and variations (as in music) as a constant source of inspiration. In addition to his activities in the visual arts, David Cohen is also a curator and member of several committees and foundations supporting outsider art and art therapy. He was a member of the board of governors of the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem, Israel, from 2012 to 2017. He is a member of the board of directors of the Halle Saint Pierre, Paris.
A former student of the École Normale Supérieure and holder of a doctorate in neuroscience, David Cohen is also a professor at Sorbonne University and head of the department of child and adolescent psychiatry at the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris. He is also a member of the Institute for Intelligent Systems and Robotics (ISIR) and a corresponding member of the National Academy of Medicine. He supports a developmental and plastic vision of childhood psychopathology, both in terms of understanding and treatment. His team offers a multidisciplinary approach and collaborates with molecular biologists, methodologists, psychologists, sociologists, and engineers. As a member of ISIR, he collaborates with several engineers from the Perception, Interaction, and Social Robotics team. He was president of the International Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions (IACAPAP) congress held in Paris in 2012.
