Preceptor Basics Online CNE Nursing Course

This is a beginner course for nurses new to the preceptor role. Includes common terms, assessing learning styles, giving constructive feedback, competency validation, and strategies for promoting critical thinking.
Target Audience
This course is designed for RNs, LPNs, and other healthcare professionals precepting in all patient care settings.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Identify at least five qualities of successful preceptors.
- Distinguish characteristics of various learning styles of adult learners.
- Identify barriers to giving and receiving feedback.
- Describe how to validate competency and document in the orientation record.
- Outline the importance of establishing goals for each experience.
