Objectives:
At the conclusion of this activity, the learner should be able to:
- Identify three types of oxygen delivery systems used in the home.
- Contrast benefits and limitations of each system.
- Effectively choose an oxygen delivery system best suited for individual patients.
- Recommend various oxygen delivery devices; which nasal cannula is best? When can oxygen masks be safely be used in the home?
- Clarify differences in Heated High Flow Oxygen Therapy and high flow oxygen delivery in the hospital vs in the home.
Bio:
Gretchen Stanton RRT, BSRT, has worked at Hospice of the Valley for 9 years as part of the Pulmonary Resource Program. With a background in Acute Care, she was humbled to learn how to care for complex respiratory patients in the home and hospice setting. Providing education to medical professionals both in and out of the hospital has become a passion, resulting in many referring to her affectionately as the Oxygen Guru.
