Mayo Clinic’s 9th Annual Hematology/Oncology Case-Based Approaches to Patient Care for NPs, PAs, and Nurses – 2026 is designed to meet the evolving educational needs of advanced practice providers and nurses who care for patients with hematologic and oncologic malignancies.
Through a dynamic, case-based format, this symposium will address real-world challenges faced in daily clinical practice. Attendees will gain practical insights into the diagnosis, management, and supportive care of patients with a wide range of cancers. The course will emphasize clinical decision-making, multidisciplinary collaboration, and up-to-date treatment strategies to enhance the delivery of high-quality oncology care.
ABSTRACT SUBMISSION
Overview: As part of the 9th Annual Mayo Clinic Hematology/Oncology Case-Based Approaches to Patient Care for NPs, PAs, and Nurses 2026 the Fellows Research Poster Presentation session for presentation of original research dedicated to the fields of Hematology/Oncology and Internal Medicine will be held at the meeting on April 9-11, 2026. Submitted abstracts may include ongoing clinical trials in Hematology/Oncology and Internal Medicine, outcome studies, quality improvement or practice innovations, and interesting or challenging case reports. Posters will be peer-reviewed. At least one of the authors must attend the conference. Residents, Fellows, NPs, or PAs with an accepted poster will receive a partial scholarship to attend the course. Nurses with an accepted poster will receive a scholarship to cover full registration fees to attend the course.
Abstract Eligibility: For the Fellows Poster Presentations, all abstracts will be reviewed based on their merit by a peer-reviewed process.
Deadline: Friday, March 6, 2026.
Notification of Results: All primary authors will be notified Friday, March 27, 2026, if the Course Directors have any recommendations or feedback to consider during e-poster creation.

Target Audience
Physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, residents/fellows, and pharmacists in the fields of hematology/oncology and internal medicine.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Differentiate between immunotherapy, targeted therapy, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy.
- Select appropriate treatment modalities based on cancer type and disease stage.
- Apply updated evidence-based strategies in the diagnosis and treatment of common hematologic and oncologic malignancies.
- Assess patient eligibility and indications for bone marrow transplantation and chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy.
- Incorporate principles of palliative and supportive care into comprehensive cancer treatment plans to improve symptom management and quality of life.
- Identify common complications and adverse effects related to immunotherapy, targeted therapy, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy, using current guidelines and clinical judgment.

- Enhance interdisciplinary communication and care coordination through case-based discussions and collaborative learning.
