Course Directors - Gustavo A. Cortes Puentes, M.D., Todd J. Meyer, R.R.T., L.R.T., Richard A. Oeckler, M.D., Ph.D.
October 7 - 10, 2025 - The Seabird Resort - Oceanside, California
The Mayo Clinic Mechanical Ventilation Conference provides high-quality education and hands-on instruction in mechanical ventilation management for healthcare providers. The course covers Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) management, focusing on controlled vs. spontaneous ventilation strategies and case-based discussions to improve clinical decision-making.
With the new Global ARDS definition, the course includes advanced diagnostic technologies like ultrasound for early detection and precise characterization of ARDS. Emphasis is placed on integrating these technologies into clinical workflows according to evidence-based guidelines.
Completing this conference fulfills one requirement toward receiving the Mayo Clinic Mechanical Ventilation Educational Program Certificate.
Abstract Submission | CLOSED
As part of the Mechanical Ventilation Conference, abstract submissions of original research or case reports dedicated to the field of mechanical ventilation are invited for digital display. Abstracts can be clinical or laboratory based. Abstracts should be 300 words or less and may include one figure or table.
Complete the submission webform by no later than September 19, 2025.

Comprehensive Intensive Tutorial: Mayo Clinic Mechanical Ventilation Certification Program
October 8, 2025 - The Seabird Resort - Oceanside, California
The Comprehensive Intensive Tutorial: Mayo Clinic Mechanical Ventilation Certification Program is an interactive, patient care–oriented session focused on key aspects of mechanical ventilation. Participants will explore lung-protective strategies, non-invasive ventilation, troubleshooting, and bedside assessment of lung recruitability, with a practical emphasis on optimizing ventilatory support, managing refractory hypoxemia, and facilitating safe extubation and transition to NIV.
Completing this breakout session fulfills one requirement toward receiving the Mayo Clinic Mechanical Ventilation Educational Program Certificate.
Target Audience
The Mayo Clinic Mechanical Ventilation Conference is designed for critical care providers, respiratory therapists, physicians, physician assistants, nurses and nurse practitioners.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Discuss the principles of mechanical ventilation and its application in critical care
- Differentiate between controlled and spontaneous ventilation strategies
- Apply evidence-based protocols for managing acute respiratory distress syndrome
- Utilize advanced diagnostic technologies, such as ultrasound, for early detection and characterization of acute respiratory distress syndrome
- Integrate new skills and knowledge into clinical workflows to enhance patient outcomes
Attendance at any Mayo Clinic course does not indicate or guarantee competence or proficiency in the skills, knowledge or performance of any care or procedure(s) which may be discussed or taught in this course.
