Medicare and Medicaid at 60: Where We've Been and Where We're Going

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Name the four parts of Medicare
  • State why changes to Medicare’s benefit structure have lagged behind those of commercial policies
  • Describe how the way Medicaid is financed can put extreme pressure on state budgets during recessions or cutbacks of Federal support
  • State how the passage of the Affordable Care Act dramatically increased Medicaid enrollment.
