Title: Centering the Margins -- Prioritizing Health Equity in GI and Liver Diseases

Learning Objectives:

 

  1. Review key upstream and midstream social determinants of health (SDOH) that contribute to health disparities in the U.S.

  2. Identify the ways in which the COVID-19 pandemic magnifies baseline disparities in colorectal cancer outcomes, chronic liver disease and organ transplantation, and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)

  3. Consider some strategies to mitigate disparities in digestive diseases from an individual and institution level to help achieve health equity for communities most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic
