Speaker Bio: Dr. Chad Ruoff is an internal medicine physician with a specialization in sleep medicine. He is passionate about evaluating and treating a wide range of sleep disorders, including sleep-disordered breathing (such as obstructive sleep apnea, central sleep apnea, Cheyne-Stokes respiration, and complex sleep apnea), central nervous system hypersomnias (such as narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnia), restless leg syndrome (RLS), parasomnias (such as REM behavior disorder), and circadian rhythm disorders (such as delayed sleep phase disorder). In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Ruoff is actively involved in research and education. He mentors medical students and has authored and coauthored numerous publications on key topics in sleep medicine, including sleep apnea and narcolepsy.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Describe how to evaluate a patient for a CNS Hypersomnia
- Review treatment options available for a patient with a CNS hypersomnia
- Identify potential challenges for patients with a CNS hypersomnia participating in clinical research
