This 5-day course will address the spectrum of spine diseases via didactics, case studies, and panel discussions, whether it is secondary to trauma, deformity, or common degenerative conditions. A unique split curriculum covers strategies for both surgical spine management and nonoperative approaches, including epidemiology, clinical anatomy, biomechanics, clinical assessment, and spine imaging review. Spinal injection strategies for various common spinal conditions, safety, and efficacy will be examined, as well as, post traumatic surgical management, adjacent segment disease issues, and comparison between various surgical techniques such as motion preserving and fusion. An emphasis on differential diagnosis and the global burden of spine disease will be discussed and debated.

Mayo Clinic Psychiatry’s flagship course, Psychiatry Clinical Updates, is aimed at providing clinically relevant updates for the management of sychiatric problems across the lifespan. Topics include updates and clinical pearls on mood and psychotic disorders, suicide, addiction, anxiety, perinatal psychiatry and eating disorders, as well as evidence-based psychotherapy and emerging pharmacotherapies. In addition, special topics relevant to current situations are presented. The course takes place February 26-29, 2024. POST-COURSE SESSION : Join us on March 1, 2024 for a bonus day of content! Psychiatry in Medical Settings covers the special challenges of diagnosing and treating psychiatric and psychological problems in patients with major medical surgical illnesses including cancer, heart disease, and neurological illnesses. Managing patients with high levels of somatic symptom burden and illness related anxiety is highlighted.

Expert faculty will present evidence-based and practical clinical approaches to diagnosis and treatment. A case-based format with audience response interaction and ample time for discussion is planned. 02/27/2024 - 8:00am to 02/28/2024 - 5:00pmDates of 2024 Sessions: February 27 & 28, 2024, May 28 & 29, 2024 - Mayo Clinic - Rochester, Minnesota Mayo Clinic’s Hospital Medicine Boot Camp for NPPAs is a two-day course designed for the novice learner, ideally within the first year of their hospital-based NPPA position. This course is meant to be fun and full of practical information taught by faculty that use current guidelines and share tidbits of experience to help successfully care for acutely ill hospitalized patients. It is filled with a variety of commonly encountered hospital scenarios followed by interactive and informal discussion. Open dialog is encouraged. Participants should feel free to wear scrubs and comfortable shoes, bring a stethoscope, and reference/clinical materials used in daily practice. Despite being called boot camp there are no physical fitness elements to the course.
