Traditional topics in the field of echocardiography including assessment of systolic and diastolic function, quantitative Doppler, and stress echocardiography will be presented. Illustrative cases that should not be missed will be presented. In addition, strain imaging and the essential role of echo during cardiac surgery and interventional procedures will be discussed.

Limited to four attendees per session, the course allows each attendee to receive extensive, individualized training. The instruction incorporates demonstrations, microvascular skills practice and detailed handouts.

Topics covered include discussion of: principles of experiential learning, planning a simulation course, writing and implementing scenarios, and debriefing strategies. Participants also have opportunities to practice scenario writing and debriefing with the guidance of experienced faculty. Enrollment is limited to encourage discussion between attendees.
