DESCRIPTION
This weekly conference is organized by the MCF Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology and designed for pathologists, radiologists, Breast Center members and trainees. During the conference, we review cases from the week before. The radiologist describes the imaging projected on a TV monitor (multiple imaging modalities may be incorporated) and the pathologist reviews the biopsy findings, while the audience/trainees learn by viewing at the multihead microscope or projected images on a second TV monitor. The conference is an opportunity to evaluate pathology-radiology concordance to optimize management decisions for patients. The forum allows open discussion among participants to enhance improved understanding of specific radiology and pathology patterns in breast disease.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Correlate radiologic imaging with pathology findings.
- Identify breast lesions requiring further clinical treatment recommendations.
- Classify breast lesions and typing and grading of breast cancers.
- Utilize breast pathology terminology, reporting and up-to-date ancillary testing
